Knetterende Schedels tells the story of Roger Van de Velde, a writer and journalist. Due to his addiction to Palfium, he spent about 10 years of his life either behind bars or in a mad house. Because of his publication ban, he was not allowed to have a typing machine. His wife, however, was. So, she smuggled his stories out of prison and got them published.
